The role of GÉANT in pan-European connectivity, its services, as well as the activities of the EaPConnect project were presented by BASNET, the Belarusian NREN, during a series of events within the ‘Week of Horizon 2020 in Belarus – 2018’. This series on 19-23 February 2018 was organised by the Office of National Contact Points of the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation ‘Horizon 2020’ in the Republic of Belarus.
The events were organised under the EU project ‘Network for International Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation with Eastern Partnership Countries – PLUS’ (EaPPlus). Detailed information about the events is available online.
Alexei Belotserkovsky, Head of the Department of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the National Contact Point for Space, and a head of the local marketing team of the EaPConnect project had a floor to present European Space Programmes, the role of GÉANT in pan-European connectivity, its services, as well as the activities of the EaPConnect project.
It is crucial for BASNET (which is a part of UIIP NASB), being a national research and educational provider of Internet services, to popularise EaPConnect services and activities, expanding its target audience.
On February 20, 2018, the Information Day was held with a focus on two pillars of the programme – ‘Leadership in Industrial Technologies’ (ICT, nano and biotechnology, new materials, production processes, Space), and ‘Social Challenges’ (Health, Transport, Energy, Climate and natural resources, etc.). The aim was to present the themes, calls and rules, to give information about the first results of the programme, to present projects that are carried out with Belarusian participants.
