A resolution on COVID-19 related scientific cooperation between the Turkic states and republics was signed following an online meeting supported by AzScienceNet, the national research and education network of Azerbaijan, which is a partner in the EU-funded EaPConnect project.
In the current situation of pandemic, education and research networks around the world are trying to support their organisations and community. AzScienceNet of the Institute of Information Technology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (IIT of ANAS), provided technical support for the online meeting of the National Academies of Sciences of Turkic-speaking countries on 21 April.
The video-conference call was held between the president of the International Turkic Academy Darhan Kydyrali, and the presidents and vice-presidents of the national science academies of the Turkic States: Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. They discussed the current problems in the development of science during the pandemic. They also explored the most promising areas of cooperation between the Turkic states and republics in the field of science in the post-crisis situation. At the end, the resolution, on the COVID-19 Pandemic Meeting of the Academies of Sciences of the Turkic States, was signed.
AzScienceNet provides modern network services (Internet provider, hosting, e-mail, web portals, cloud computing, etc.) necessary for the implementation of scientific research, scientific-practical and educational issues of scientific institutions and organisations of ANAS. In connection with the special quarantine regime in the country, a working group consisting of employees of the organization has been established to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the AzScienceNet network. The Union of the National Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World was established on 29 June 2015 at the initiative of the International Turkic Academy in Astana. The online meeting was organised by the International Turkic Academy, in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan.
