Training that will boost the ability of AzScienceNet to integrate the Azerbaijani scientific community with their peers in Europe was organised within the framework of the EU-funded EapConnect project, continuing the enhancement of knowledge in Eastern Partnership Countries. AzScienceNet staff participated in several training events on the operation and configuration of network equipment on 7-15 October 2019.

Marc Levin, a certified instructor with Juniper Networks, delivered internationally recognised training on “Junos Enterprise Switching”, “Introduction to the Junos Operating System” and “Junos Intermediate Routing”. The events were conducted by training center MUK Azerbaijan.

Although the AzScienceNet team had good experience of installing, configuring and troubleshooting network equipment, we still needed this specialised course because the working logic and configuring style of Juniper equipment is different from other network equipment we were using. After this training we are able to utilise and take advantage of all the device functions and specs.”

AzScienceNet staff who completed this training acquired knowledge in using Juniper equipment in corporate and carrier networks, boosting their technical and practical knowledge. In this way the training will enable AzScienceNet to increase the speed of its broadband Internet access, improving its network service. Thus will foster the integration of the Azerbaijani scientific community into European science, and make users’ access to pan-European GÉANT services more affordable and qualitative.

Thanks to GÉANT and the EAPConnect project for making this possible.”
