What does it mean to communicate the impact of a project? How do you go beyond merely sharing progress updates and, instead, focus on the tangible and intangible changes experienced and brought forward by National Research and Education Networks? These and many other questions on the topic of project communications were discussed by the marketing and communications experts of the Special Interest Group, SIG-Marcomms, at the meeting on October 5, 2023.

A total of 34 participants joined online, the EaPConnect Project marcomms representatives participated from Asnet-AM’s office premises in Yerevan, Armenia – where they had attended the annual EaPConnect Project meeting on 3-4 October.

Naira Kocharyan from the Armenian NREN presented on the teamwork, capacity and skill building activities that have empowered the international marcomms team behind the project. A truly inspiring list of events and training courses from which the marcomms colleagues learned a lot and continue to apply those skills to the project as well and in their respective national efforts.

Tetiana Preobrazhenska from URAN, the Ukrainian NREN delivered a memorable presentation. The magnitude of the URAN team’s resilience throughout the war and their commitment to keep delivering essential services to their community is inspirational and heartening.

The meeting also featured presentations from Tamara Gvenetadze from GRENA on the Georgian NREN’s communication strategy for its established and popular education programme and Olga Popcova from RENAM, the Moldovan NREN, on the FileSender project communications insights.

These contributions are a tangible evidence of the impressive growth of each professional in the EaP marcomms team, but also of the impact that their development is delivering for their NRENs and the project. I am proud and in awe of my colleagues for their dedication, creativity, resilience and ability to support their communities, notwithstanding the difficult circumstances and objective challenges that the EaP region faces, whilst raising the profile of their organisations at national and international level.
