Thirty-seven project proposals were submitted in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) 2018 Enlighten Your Research call for participation, breaking the record set the previous year. Proposals from across all the six EaP countries and organisations affiliated with EaPConnect project partners covered a wide range of fields including musical research,  online eMasterclasses – using LoLa technology, eHealth, cybersecurity, climate change, high performance computing (HPC).

We have been delighted by the large number of submissions again this year from the Eastern European countries. We have had very positive feedback from previous winners about the benefits of incorporating a variety of technologies into their research, and we look forward to this year’s winners getting the same positive experience.”

What is EYR@EaP?

The EYR programme promotes the use and incorporation of e-infrastructure resources for research, and the benefits of international collaboration. Having originated in the Netherlands, EYR went global in 2013 and in 2016 the Eastern Partnership Connect (EaPConnect) project approached the organisers to run a special edition of EYR together in the EaP countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

EYR@EaP is a proposal-based programme, which seeks projects that need access to and support of e-infrastructure resources. Example e-infrastructure resources offered for winning  EYR@EaP 2018 projects include but are not limited to: guidance on open data and open science through OpenAIRE; compute resources provided by the European research infrastructure PRACE and partner computing centres (such as SURFsara); advice and support on the use of network services and end-to-end network connectivity through the EaP partners; and commitment to an agreed level of resource provisioning and support.

This year’s winners are…

The winning projects will be revealed during this year’s Eastern Partnership E-infrastructures Conference, EaPEC 2018, which is being organised by EaPConnect in Chisinau, Moldova on 17-18 October.
