The conference “Digital Medicine 4.0: Problems, Opportunities, and Prospects” took place in Baku in a hybrid format, bringing together key stakeholders from government bodies, academic institutions, and the healthcare sector. Designed as a dynamic platform for dialogue, the conference focused on the digital transformation of Azerbaijan’s healthcare system, an evolution increasingly shaped by the tools and technologies of Industry 4.0.

The event – organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Milli Majlis Health Committee, Azerbaijan Medical University, the National Oncology Centre, Azerbaijan Technical University, the Institute of Biophysics, and the Institute of Information Technology, – welcomed participants from public institutions, universities, research centres, and media organisations. AzScienceNet, Azerbaijan’s NREN, provided technical support, ensuring seamless connectivity and stable internet access throughout the conference. It also facilitated a range of interactive features, including live streaming, real-time audience engagement, and virtual Q&A sessions, enhancing the overall participant experience.

The main objective of the event was to raise awareness of the pressing scientific and technological challenges facing modern healthcare. Topics included the collection and analysis of large-scale digital medical data, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into medical information systems, and the development of conceptual and technological roadmaps to support the digital modernisation of healthcare infrastructure.

In his opening address, Rasim Alguliyev, General Director of the Institute of Information Technology, highlighted the strategic importance of digital medicine for Azerbaijan’s national development. He highlighted the relevance of national initiatives such as the Digital Development Concept and the Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025–2028, noting that the contributions of scientists and specialists are essential for driving innovation in the healthcare sector.

Following the opening session, the conference proceeded with two thematic panels: “Scientific and Theoretical Issues in the Development of Digital Medicine” and “Scientific and Practical Challenges in Applying Digital Technologies in Medicine.” These sessions featured presentations from both local and international experts, covering a range of cutting-edge developments in digital health technologies.

The event underlined the urgent need for interdisciplinary collaboration, investment in digital infrastructure, and the continuous development of human capital to ensure the successful integration of emerging technologies into healthcare.
