Open licenses and rights of re-use of creative works, obligations of right-holders towards funders, and development of repositories at the institutional level – these were the main topics discussed at the NI4OS-Europe National End-Users Training Event in the domain of Open Science for Moldova, held on 18 November 2021.

The training gave national stakeholders an opportunity to gain knowledge about: the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) initiative and its benefits; NI4OS-Europe (National Initiatives for Open Science in Europe) project and its mission; NI4OS-Europe technical support in on-boarding the services into EOSC; activities on spreading the EOSC philosophy and FAIR principles in national communities and user engagement; possibilities to access EOSC services available through the NI4OS-Europe catalogue; and practical aspects of running virtual machines and using RENAM Scientific Cloud and RENAM Storage Service. In addition, open licenses for different fields were presented, as well as types of Creative Commons (CC) licenses and their usage rights, existing tools for marking work with a CC license, key aspects in the protection of intellectual property in the context of Open Science, an overview of institutional repository creation process in medical sciences, plus current technical operation and support tasks and development perspectives of institutional repositories.

This online event of more than three hours was attended by 92 representatives of Moldovan universities and research institutions, librarians and policy makers. The event was organised by RENAM, as a NI4OS-Europe partner.
